In the summer of 2023, we launched the 100 Cricket League – a new league to help girls get onto the Cumbria Cricket County Age Group Pathway.
The 100 League includes teams at Under 13 and Under 16 levels covering the whole of Cumbria and comes on the back of a rapid growth and investment in women’s cricket fuelled by the success of the national team, a professional English league and increasing coverage by major broadcasters.
Divided into age groups of U13s and U16s, these are hard ball leagues which bring local clubs together under Franchise-style geographical teams.
These teams are:
Southern Power ⚡
Southern Power (Barrow, Ulverston, Lindal, Dalton)
Central Sixers 6️⃣
Central Sixers (Netherfield, Kendal, Arnside, Sedgwick, Carnforth, Burneside and Milnthorpe)
Western Boom 💥
Western Boom (Cockermouth, Keswick, Egremont, Threlkeld, Workington and Whitehaven)
Eden Eagles 🦅
Eden Eagles (Penrith, Appleby, Stainton and Edenhall)
We are also looking to develop a Northern Blast team with players from Carlisle, Lanercost, Wetherall and Caldbeck
To ensure players can develop to the best of their ability, whilst the leagues are divided into age groups, we do no want to place limits on our players, so our age groups are flexible – it’s about the stage you are at rather than the age you are.
The 100 League is an integral part of our commitment to welcome more women and girls into the game and, in addition to these U13 and U16 leagues, we are also looking to launch a U11 and women’s league in the future.
