As part of our strategy to ensure everyone in Cumbria can say ‘cricket is a game for me’, Cumbria Cricket is proud to offer the Cumbria 50s Team – a fantastic opportunity for players to stay active and continue playing in a competitive environment.
The team competes in the in the Northern division (Group 1) of the 50+ County Championship alongside Cheshire, Derbyshire, Durham, Lancashire, Northumberland, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire, with fixtures taking place on Wednesdays from May to July.
There are seven fixtures a year which take place on a rotational basis. One year you will play four games at home and three away before switching to three at home and four away the following season.
Once the league phase of the fixtures has been played out, the top teams go into a knockout phase against teams from other divisions.
Playing for the Cumbria 50s could also lead to selection for England 50s, who are the current World Champions and undertake Ashes tours of Australia.
Please note that players applying to play for Cumbria 50s must currently be playing league cricket.
In addition to playing, the team are always looking for people to help out in other areas, including scoring and administrative roles.
