We are delighted to announce Nathan Waterston as our new Barrow Cricket Development Officer.
Nathan has represented Cumbria Cricket throughout the County Age Groups and is a regular in the Cumbria County Cricket Club team. Regarding his role, Nathan states: “I believe that excellence is the gradual result of always striving to do better and my ambition is to do this to inspire the next generation of female and male cricketers.”
Bob Simpson, Director of Development at Cumbria Cricket, was delighted to announce Nathan’s arrival:
“This is a perfect appointment for Cumbria Cricket and the Cumbria Cricket Family. Nathan is a great role model and he truly believes in the power of cricket in making a positive impact to anyone who picks up a bat and ball, no matter where they come from or what their background is.
“His passion for others to have the opportunity to experience what he has on his cricketing journey will be inspirational to others. His local knowledge of the cricketing landscape, ability to build close relationships with the local clubs, schools, and partners will help Cumbria Cricket to support the needs in the Barrow area, and increase the number of people to say ‘cricket is a game for me’.”
Nathan will be responsible for inspiring everyone to say ‘cricket is a game for me’ by:
- Building positive partnerships with all of the Clubs in the Barrow area, so we can understand the support they need.
- Increasing the number of schools we deliver in. Delivering quality coaching in the schools, and offering transitional routes in the National Programmes and junior club cricket.
- Building the number of girls and boys participating in cricket in the area.
- Building the number of coaches, umpires & scorers involved in cricket in the area.
- Co-ordinating the district pathway.
