Last night we held a meeting with key stakeholders to review the Cumbria Cricket strategy in line with the ECB County Planning Agreement.
The meeting took place at Penrith Cricket Club with a number of stakeholders from across Cumbrian cricket.
We had a fantastic turnout with representatives from:
- Senior and Junior Cricket Leagues
- Women & Girls Cricket facilitators
- Disabled/SEND providers
- Safeguarding specialists
- Club representatives
- ECB Association of Cricket Officials
- Coach developers
- Cumbria County Cricket Club
- Cumberland and Westmorland & Furness Councils
- Public Heath
- Active Cumbria
- Cumbria Cricket Ltd Staff & Directors
The meeting was held as part of our County Planning Agreement with the ECB and its new strategy – Inspiring Generations 2
Active Cumbria’s Senior Operations Manager Richard Johnston facilitated the event, where we asked stakeholders to review the current strategy’s mission, vision, values and four main pillars so the Cumbria Cricket network can take learnings into the new strategy.
Cumbria Cricket Managing Director, Bob Simpson, said: “It’s vitally important that the Cumbria Cricket strategy provides a pathway to achieve the aims and ambitions we have to grow cricket in Cumbria, alongside the ECB’s Inspiring Generations 2.
“There was a fantastic buzz on the night, and we would like to thank everyone who attended for offering their insight and views, which allowed for good debate and a vision to move the strategy forward.”
Following this meeting, Cumbria Cricket has started to move to the next stage of the process with a County Planning Agreement Steering Group.
We are really excited by the opportunity the strategy presents for the Cumbria Cricket network to work together and deliver a plan that involves all stakeholders.
Our aim is, with the support of stakeholders and the wider network, to launch the strategy in Spring 2025. We want to ensure the strategy allows people in Cumbria can say ‘cricket is a game for me’.
