Cumbria Cricket Limited is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and approachable Safeguarding & Anti-Discrimination Officer to lead and coordinate safeguarding and anti-discrimination across recreational cricket in Cumbria.
This is a rewarding role where you will work with clubs, volunteers, coaches, players, parents, schools, leagues and partner organisations to promote best practice, provide advice and guidance, manage concerns appropriately, and help create positive environments in which everyone can enjoy cricket.
About the Role
Location: Cumbria (county-wide)
Hours: 16 hours per week (part-time)
Salary: £11,700 per annum
This exciting role focuses on four key areas:
Safeguarding Leadership
Act as Cumbria Cricket’s lead safeguarding officer, providing advice, guidance and support to clubs, volunteers and staff whilst ensuring safeguarding concerns are managed promptly, appropriately and in accordance with ECB policies and procedures.
Anti-Discrimination & Inclusion
Promote a culture where everyone is treated fairly, with dignity and respect, helping clubs create welcoming environments where discrimination, bullying and harassment are not tolerated.
Education & Support
Deliver and promote safeguarding, safer recruitment and anti-discrimination training, support Club Safeguarding Officers and volunteers, and help embed good practice throughout the recreational game.
Partnership Working
Work closely with the ECB, Cricket Regulator, statutory agencies, clubs, leagues, schools and community partners to continually strengthen safeguarding, inclusion and participant welfare across Cumbria.
The overarching aim is to ensure that cricket throughout Cumbria remains a safe, enjoyable and inclusive sport for everyone.
Requirements
We are looking for some who:
- Has experience of safeguarding children and/or adults at risk.
- Has a good understanding of equality, diversity, inclusion and anti-discrimination principles.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Can provide clear advice and guidance whilst maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
- Has strong organisational, administrative and digital skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Is confident managing sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Can work independently whilst contributing positively as part of a small team.
- Has excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
- Is willing to undertake relevant ECB safeguarding, anti-discrimination and other required training.
- Is flexible and willing to work occasional evenings and weekends to support clubs and cricket activities.
- Is able to travel throughout Cumbria to support clubs, meetings and events (reasonable adjustments will be considered where appropriate).
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
