The Fibrus 100 Cricket League is a new league to help girls get onto the Cumbria Cricket County Age Group Pathway.
Formed in partnership with broadband provider Fibrus Broadband, the league includes teams at U13 and U16 levels across Cumbria.
The five founding teams are as follows:
- Eden Eagles – covering Appleby, Edenhall, Penrith, Patterdale, Kirkby, Stephen, Stainton
- Central Sixers – drawing players from Netherfield, Kendal, Arnside, Milnthorpe, Sedgwick, Carnforth
- Southern Power – from Ulverston, Dalton, Barrow, Lindal, Coniston, Millom, Haverigg.
- Western Boom – with players from Cockermouth, Egremont, Workington, Whitehaven.
- Sedbergh School – with Under 13 and Under 16 players representing the school.
The league comes on the back of rapid growth and investment in women’s cricket fuelled by the success of the national team, a professional English league and increasing coverage by major broadcasters.
We are delighted to have Fibrus on board as the title partner for the league. Their commitment to sport in Cumbria this year is unquestionable. The company has already committed £30,000 worth of investment in boys and girls sport through the Fibrus Play it Forward Fund which offers funding to grassroots sports clubs, and has recently become the title sponsor of Workington RLFC.
The Fibrus 100 League is an integral part of our commitment to welcome more women and girls into the game and, in addition to these U13 and U16 leagues, we are also looking to launch a U11 and women’s league in the future.
