Free of charge MCC Foundation & District Cricket Programme to launch in January

Cumbria Cricket is pleased to announce the rebranding of its existing District Cricket Programme for junior cricketers. From January, the programme will operate under a new name: The MCC Foundation & District Cricket Programme

This development reflects a strengthened partnership with the MCC Foundation and reinforces our shared commitment to providing high-quality, accessible cricketing opportunities for young players across the county.

Participation will now be completely free of charge, ensuring that all eligible boys and girls can access high-quality coaching and development opportunities regardless of financial circumstance.

Other changes include:

Specific sessions for boys & girls
Increased winter contact time
Increased summer matches

The programme will begin in mid-January 2026 and run for 10 weeks. Each session will be 90 minutes long and split across the following categories:

Boys U13s & and U15s
Girls U14s & U17s

This new programme is will sit just beneath the County Age Group programme and will be a crucial step and link between the good work that happens at clubs and representative cricket.

Players will be allowed to attend both the CAG course & MCC Foundation District course if they choose to.

Further details, including training structure, coaching appointments, and trial dates, will be communicated in the coming weeks.
