Age should never be a barrier to cricket.
The Cumbria Over 50s Team are recruiting players to represent the county and take part in ECB affiliated competition.
Since England Over 50s won the World Cup Final against host nation South Africa in 2023, interest in the senior game has grown with talks already being held for potential sponsors for next season. This growth has led to former professionals and ex-club players returning to the field.
Players are being invited to join the Cumbria set up, where, in addition the fun of playing cricket, there is great camaraderie and friendship.
Matches are played over 45 overs on Wednesday afternoons (1pm start).
Cumbria Over-50s play in Group 1 of the ECB 50+ County Championship. Alongside Cumbria in Group 1 are Durham, Northumberland, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
Players from a range of Cumbrian leagues currently represent the team, including the Cumbria Cricket League, Eden Valley League, Westmorland League and Palace Shield.
