Street Cricket with Multicultural Cumbria

A fantastic first session of Street Cricket was held on 27th November

The session was hosted in partnership with Multicultural Cumbria and University of Cumbria on Sunday 27th November. Street Cricket is a fast-paced version of the game played with a soft ball in small enclosed spaces – dubbed ‘cricket’s answer to five-a-side football’.

One of the participants in the session, Akhil Ankam, shared his thoughts with us regarding the success of the session and what it means to be a part of community-driven cricket.

A key objective of our recently published EDI Action Plan was to “develop an inclusive environment and actively engage with under represented groups”. This partnership was a crucial step in this direction, and we look forward to continuing to offer opportunities to play cricket to under represented groups in Cumbria moving forward.
